October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Too many of us have been touched by an occurrence of cancer in our lives or those we love. Even the NFL Football teams are sporting pink this month. Many survivors have expressed appreciation for our unscented lip balm
, body butter
and deodorants without heavy metals
. If you're wearing pink, it matters.
October also has great well-known holidays. It starts off with Columbus Day and ends with Halloween. Is there an Oktoberfest in your plans? Our family traditionally visits the pumpkin patch where we pick out a pumpkin representing each member of our family, including the dog and cats.
Look to our Monthly Special for savings on cosmetics to safely use on your family.
Fall is here! Seasons are changing which means the trees are shedding their leaves. Know what else is shedding? Your skin!
Fall is the time to be using your scrub and/or complexion brush diligently. Temperature changes and added dust, pollen, and mold spores in the air due to the falling leaves can have your skin looking dull and lifeless.
Shed a layer using our Lemon Facial Scrub or any of our Foaming Face Washes with a Complexion brush! Follow the routine with your favorite Zosimos Botanicals facial moisturizer. Both the scrub and the complexion brushes are gentle enough for every day use. Keep that healthy glow all season!
A lot of exciting events were happening at the DC Green Festival the weekend of September 29-30 in Washington, DC.
Erika had a lot of fun doing free green eye makeovers.
Here are some of the Before and After photos:
Linda was also a featured Speaker on the DIY stage, where she showed how to make our Vegan organic lip balm from scratch.
A new product was also Beta tested at the Festival. Customers purchased all of the prototypes we brought of scented body powder. It was created in two scents, Chamomile and Vanilla. Both have the ability to neutralize odor and absorb moisture. Perfect for after a workout or anytime you simply want to smell nice without perfume.
Would you use a body powder? Of course, as with all of our products, it contains no talc.
Fashion Week has just made it's way around the globe, with each designer pairing their creations with a signature makeup style. Here's latest runway report. Don't to worry about perfecting your look, because this season's style is a little more relaxed. The majority of the models had pale faces with minimal makeup and nude lips paired with a variation of the smokey eye. The model on the right is from Lanvin.
Achieve the smudgy eye look by
swiping on a bit of color with an eye pencil
, and use a cotton swab or fingers to blend the pigment outward from the eyes.
Some other eye trends were light blue eye shadow, in one instance eyeliner and concealer were mixed to get the desired shade. Designers repeatedly used metallics like our Fool's Gold
. There was an interesting use of white eye liner
Face: The same "dewy" skin was found everywhere. Creativity is the key to getting this to work. Mix up a blob of moisturizer with foundation, add a bit of shimmer dust and a little toner. The consistency needs to be thin but not too wet or it will be runny.
Lips: To use a favorite color but tone it down for a more subtle appearance, apply less lipstick or gloss than you normally would in the center. Blend it towards the outer corners with a lip brush for a faded effect.
Fashion being what it is, the exact opposite was also on display in the form of neutral eyes and heavily made up lips. Deep colors like our Garnet, Burgundy, Redbud, and Terracotta Spice are right on target.
Cheeks: Remember when we mentioned a love for rosy cheeks in our August newsletter? Now's the time to flaunt the flushed look by using our Mineral Blushes or Lip & Cheek Tints. Use warmer shades like Dahlia which is available in either the loose powder blush or cream tint.
