April Brings Earth Day

April brightens our lives with warmer weather, flowers, and spending time outdoors.  As you transition from winter to spring wardrobes, don't forget do a little spring cleaning in your cosmetics and skin care products as well.  Out with old, dried up products that are no longer fresh or fashionable and in with fresh, new products to brighten your day and lighten your spirit.

The 22nd of this month heralds the 40th annual celebration of Earth Day!  Read more below about things you can do to participate in Earth Day celebrations in your area.

Happily, as the Zosimos studio is Sarah Headshotalways busy, Sarah joined the Staff this month.   Sarah has degree in Fine Arts and exudes creativity.  She has years of experience creating wearable art and living a eco-friendly lifestyle. 

Sarah's ability to quickly master skills required to successfully handcraft products and sunny demeanor have quickly made her a highly valued member of our team of artisans.

MakeUpByL EyesAlmost daily youtube gurus send offers to either review our products or record a tutorial using our cosmetics. 

A recent video was done by MakeUpByL and is available on her YouTube channel.  This look was created using our Cobalt, Moss and Burgundy eye shadows.

Formulator's Corner

The Daily Anti-Oxidant Cream has been reformulated according to the EWG safety guide and Canadian regulations.  The ingredient list, will now be:  Purified Water; Organic Sweet Almond oil; Organic Beeswax; Emulsifying wax; Coconut oil; Sclerotium Gum; Green tea extract; Organic Lime essential oil; Bamboo extract; Ginger essential oil; Organic Lemon Grass essential oil; He Shou Wu extract.  Look for new labels soon! 

The Sodium Borate (Borax) has been removed, resulting in a more smooth and creamier emulsion.  The beloved effectiveness of the green tea anti-oxidant and the amazing scent remain unchanged.

Winners have yet to be announced, but Zosimos Botanicals received an invitation to the Gaithersburg, Maryland Environmental Awards presentations on April 19, 2010.  Zosimos received an Award from the Mayor of Gaithersburg in 2009.  

Invitations are only extended to recipients, so we are very excited in the studio!

Sophie Uliano, author of Gorgeously Green and the Gorgeously Green Diet, wrote that she "loved this small company" and featured us in her weekly contest at gorgeouslygreen.com website.  The lucky winner received our Butternut Bronzer and Icy Shimmer Dust.

In a Guide to Organic Cosmetics in the Style section of online Papermag.com, makeup artist Jessa Blades made over rock band Au Revoir Simone using, among other things, our eyeliner.

 
Consistency in Measurements

Recently, we standardized the amounts of the dry powder mini pinches.
- Foundation, Blush, Bronzer and Shimmer Dust are a Tad;
- Eye Shadow is a Smidgeon;
- Dry Shampoo is a Tablespoon;
- Dry Facial Mask is 1-1/2 Tablespoons.

Identical sets of measuring devices are employed to ensure consistency.
